Over the Road (OTR) CDL Training Program

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the high-demand trucking industry?

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), and participating companies from Wisconsin's trucking industry are partnering to recruit and train qualified Wisconsin residents to become OTR truck drivers and connect them to careers with participating employers.

Participants MUST agree to become employed with one of the participating employers (Roehl, Schneider National, and WEL).

Classroom training is currently offered with a variety of flexible training options at Chippewa Valley Technical College, Fox Valley Technical College, Milwaukee Area Technical College – Oak Creek, Northcentral Technical College and Waukesha County Technical College. Completion of training will be followed by onboard finisher training with the selected trucking firm.

If you already have a CDL and/or commercial driving experience, please let us know at CDL@dwd.wisconsin.gov, as you may be able to qualify for the program by completing a brief refresher course.

If you are a Veteran and would like additional resources available to you visit the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs Education Programs page.
